Jérémie returns to his home village for the funeral of his former boss, the local baker. He decides to stay for a few days with the widow, but his presence triggers tension and suspicion among the neighbors. Alain Guiraudie

Alain Guiraudie (born 1964) is one of the most original and daring voices in contemporary French cinema. He is renowned for his unique style, blending realism, absurdity, and philosophical reflection. His international breakthrough came with the thriller “Stranger by the Lake” which won him the Best Director award in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. His films often explore themes of rural life, sexuality, and human nature in unpredictable ways.
