Although very different from one another, Arthur and Felix have always felt like best friends—one a pedantic philistine, the other a rogue. To help his friend, Arthur gives him his medical card for a hospital check-up and learns that Felix is terminally ill. Unable to tell him the truth, Arthur gets caught in a web of lies, and Felix eventually believes Arthur is the one who’s dying. Felix begins to care for him, while Arthur is in perfect health. In the end, Arthur rediscovers the meaning of life, and Felix learns what it means to love.
