The year is 1936. As Palestine rises against British colonial rule, young Yusuf drifts between his quiet village and the restless energy of Jerusalem. Annemarie Jacir’s film is a grand historical fresco that intertwines the lives of local rebels and British officials at a decisive turning point for the region. Blending personal narratives with archival footage, “Palestine 36” explores the early roots of a conflict that continues to shape our world today.
