Jeanne du Barry opened the Cannes Festival triumphantly in 2023.Director Maïwenn pays tribute to the legendary fate of the famous Jeanne du Barry, a courtesan and favourite of the King Louis XV.
Filmed on film and amidst the splendour of the Palace of Versailles, the film follows Jeanne’s incredible journey from a girl of humble origin to a favourite of the king, but quickly falls out of favour in the years following Louis XV’s death.
Maïwenn
Maïwenn is a French director, screenwriter and actress born on April 17, 1976. From an early age, Maïwenn acts in films. At a later stage he started working as a director, screenwriter and stand-up comedian. Her 2011 film “Polisse” won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
