Woody Allen
Woody Allen was born on December 1, 1935, as Allen Stewart Konigsberg in the Bronx, New York, and grew up in Brooklyn. He began his career as an screenwriter in the 1950s, writing sketches and screenplays for television shows while publishing several books with short humorous excerpts, and in the early 1960s began to engage in stand-up comedy. Also, during the 1960s, he began directing and writing screenplays for films.
