One of Germany’s leading filmmakers, Fatih Akin, reunites with Diane Kruger in this emotionally charged story set on the island of Amrum in the spring of 1945. In the final days of World War II, 12-year-old Nanning takes on adult responsibilities, helping his family survive in the absence of his father. As the war comes to an end, unexpected challenges arise, forcing the boy to find his own path in a world forever changed.
