“$100” takes us to the capital city to meet Mrs. Atanaska, a retired violinist living in solitude and alienation. The accidental discovery of a 100-dollar bill sweeps through her daily life like a tsunami, creating the illusion that she is truly alive once more. Even when she realizes the bill is counterfeit and she faces legal consequences, she feels no fear – for her, this is a potential deliverance. Her life’s Rubicon is an encounter with a virtuous street violinist with a disability. In a final gesture of spiritual awakening, Atanaska gifts her precious “Amati” violin to the talented girl, finding meaning in sacrifice. Because one never knows what they might gain when they lose…
