This documentary showcases not only iconic landmarks like the Ancient Theater and the Roman Stadium but also the latest archaeological discoveries that shed new light on the Roman period in Plovdiv. Featuring stunning drone cinematography, the film captures the scale of Roman influence and reveals, for the first time from an aerial perspective, the two early Christian basilicas that house unique mosaics. Archaeologists, architects, and experts share their insights into the historical significance of these finds and the ongoing efforts to preserve them for future generations.

Boris Slavchev is a Bulgarian director born in Sofia and currently based in Rome, Italy. He is a graduate of the prestigious Sapienza University of Rome, specializing in Theater and Cinema. His work is characterized by a precise visual style and a dedication to promoting Bulgarian cultural heritage. His previous projects include an award-winning short film in the United States and a feature-length documentary. “Ancient Roman Plovdiv” further establishes his reputation as a filmmaker with a keen eye for detail and historical authenticity.
